Currently, most Jewish schools have students take standardized achievement tests (e.g., TerraNova, ERB, Iowa, etc.) in order to evaluate the individual progress of students compared to peers in their school and in similar schools throughout the country, as well as to assess their teachers and curriculum. However, such an assessment tool does not exist for Judaic studies. Therefore, the YU School Partnership has assembled a team of university experts in test construction and Judaic content along with expert practitioners to develop the Evaluation and Inventory of Torah Studies (EITS). Currently, an end of 7th grade measure of Judaic studies is being developed and end of 3rd, 5th, 9th, and 11th tools are being planned.
